Anyone cycle 2 surrogates at once? How many to transfer? Your experience/outcomes appreciated!

The clinic I am considering offers cycling to surrogates at once - giving you two fresh cycles. We are doing donor egg. They typically transfer 3-5 embryos on day 2/3. They say 65% chance and by 4th try 99% pregnancy

Do you think this aggressive or ok since it is a 2 or 3dt? We would certainly be thrilled for multiples, but health for surrogate and fetuses top priority.

What was your experience? How many transferred into each surrogate and what was the outcome?

If you are using 2 surrogates and a really young, healthy egg donor, you will have a much higher chance for multiples. Most couples trying this are using their own eggs and they either have diminished egg capacity or another fertility issue that warrants them to use a more aggressive approach. This is a touchy subject (see the Surrogates section) because some people feel its a moral question to bring too many babies into this world or to have to consider reduction. Therefore, think really hard if you decide to do this. The clinics in India are out to make more money, so their incentive is different than yours. You need to decide if you can handle multiples emotionally and financially. Since there is no law in India regarding IVF and surrogacy (only guidelines set out by ICMR which some clinics do or don't follow), clinics can do what they want, which can be a good or bad thing. I've heard of some clinics doing 2 surrogates with more than 4 embryos each and surros getting pregnant with more than 2 each! You have to think a bit harder when you bring a baby into this world. I feel things can and do get out of hand.

Thanks for your feedback. That's what I thought. While we would certainly welcom two fresh transfers, even if each surrogate got preg, would be ok. But I don't want to put a surrogate through the added risks and discomfort at our expense...not to mention the risks of multiple pregnancies.

If you use both donor egg and donor sperm, that is called embryo adoption and this is not legally possible in India. When a child is born through surrogacy in India through foreign IPs, the child is considered stateless and will need to get citizenship through one or both parents. If the foreign IPs have no biological connection to the child, it will be difficult if not impossible to emigrate the child to your home country especially if your country requires a DNA test. Besides, Indian laws do not allow foreigners to adopt Indian children unless you are of Indian heritage (NRI) or an Indian citizen. This is what I last heard from my lawyer in India.
